VP, Fraud Strategy Innovation

Job Description :

·         Innovate the Fraud Strategy ecosystem to be flexible, agile, efficient, and cost effective

·         Analyze efficiencies in existing fraud strategies and capabilities

·         Identify opportunities via data driven strategies and through engagement with internal resources and external vendors 

This role will be responsible for creating and presenting business cases for innovative fraud strategies and tools to senior management and partnership.  Agility and flexibility are required to quickly shift focus and efforts to the most pressing fraud need at the time.


Key Accountabilities

·         Pioneer strategic innovation throughout the fraud department to ensure the organization is always on the cutting edge of fraud prevention

·         Deep dive review of existing fraud capabilities and strategies in each loss type

·         Identify new capabilities, vendors, and tools and adjust existing platforms and strategies across all fraud types and support the negotiation, integration and management of on-going relationship

·         Apply a data driven approach using actual and historical data to recommend changes and routinely follow up to ensure the environment is constantly optimized

·         Generate business cases with verifiable results to present to leadership

·         Work with the central fraud analytic and technology teams as required, to commission tool development projects

·         Liaise with Fraud counterparts globally to ensure effective collaboration, leverage best practices, and help to drive excellence in fraud management

·         Conduct defect reviews of strategy gaps and system failures, and produce an action plan to address issues

·         Provide support, including analysis, to various Strategic Fraud initiatives outlined by the business and backup department functions when necessary


Stakeholder management and leadership

·         Build effective working relationships with all key business partners including Technology, Client Management, Marketing, and Customer Experience

·         Team Player – responsibilities across all fraud types and must be able to work with and in cross-functional and virtual teams

·         Leadership – this role requires expertise in Fraud Risk management.  Improvement recommendations should come from a wealth of experience and communicated with confidence and in collaboration with team members


Decision making and problem solving

·         Must be comfortable thinking outside the box and devising new and creative solutions to existing business challenges

·         Proven history of implementing best in class fraud capabilities, a strong knowledge of fraud detection and prevention best practices, and the ability to successfully deliver innovative fraud solutions

·         Ability to understand the entire process flow for fraud strategy and operations controls to be able to evaluate impact from specific system/business changes on the overall Fraud detection



Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree & 7+ years of fraud risk experience in financial services, payments, or Fintech



Preferred Qualifications:

·         Technology implementation experience with knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies preferred

·         Big data technology familiarity a big plus

·         Experience with creating dashboards and curating data for use in Business Intelligence platforms (Microstrategy, Tableau, etc)

·         MS degree in an applicable discipline (i.e. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer/Information Science)

·         Data abstraction knowledge spanning multiple technologies (SQL, Python, R, SAS, etc) with proven ability to process vast amounts of data into meaningful information

·         Familiarity with industry leading and cutting edge fraud technologies

·         Excellent communication and presentation skills

·         Proven record of success in strategy development, problem solving, leadership, governance, controls and business innovation.
